Economic Evaluation Specialist: Centre for International Health (CIH) of the Hospital Clinic

Location: Barcelona, Spain

The Centre for International Health (CIH) of the Hospital Clínic is a research centre devoted to finding solutions to the world’s most serious diseases, generating information that will lead to decision making in health policies. Most of this research has a multidisciplinary approach and involves teams that include medical epidemiologists, clinicians, entomologists, molecular biologists, immunologists, statisticians, social scientists and health economists. We are seeking a health economist to manage and contribute to economic evaluation projects related to malaria control in Africa. The position is based in Barcelona, Spain.

The successful candidate will have the following tasks:

  • Management of a multi-site cost-effectiveness project in Africa.
  • Contribution to other CIH research projects with economic evaluation components.
  • Training and coaching of researchers from developing countries.
  • Regular travel to several countries in Africa.

Required qualifications:

  • PhD in health economics or a related, relevant qualification.
  • Practical field experience in economic evaluation projects is desirable.
  • Good working knowledge of all methods of economic evaluation.
  • Ability to manage research projects with field work component.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and French.
  • Good communication skills.
