Senior Health Research Analyst / Health Research Analyst: The Milken Institute

Ideal Candidate will have:
- Ph.D. in health economics or Masters with a minimum of two years experience, with undergraduate or other Masters in operations research, statistics or related field.
- Applications in chronic disease economics and knowledge of economic evaluation such as cost-of-illness studies, cost-benefit studies and cost-effectiveness analysis.
- Familiarity in the latest prevention, early detection and innovations in treatment of chronic disease.
- Candidate must have knowledge of public data bases related to chronic disease such as NHIS, MEPS, NHANES, BRFSS and others. Use of sub-national data is desirable.
- Statistical estimation and model building including econometrics using statistical software (i.e. SAS, STATA, Eviews, Aremos, SPSS) and be able to maintain, organize, and update large data sets.
- Detailed knowledge of economic and statistical concepts.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- An interest in working in team environment under pressure.
The Milken Institute is expanding its research capabilities in health economics. This is an outstanding opportunity to participate in translational health economics research that will be put into action to influence public policy and improve health outcomes. In collaboration with our sister organization, FasterCures, we aim to conduct research that fosters the movement of innovative treatments and cures from the bench to the bedside. We are seeking a candidate with a Ph.D. in health economics and knowledge of operations research, econometrics, biometrics or other advanced quantitative techniques or a Masters with two or more years experience. Experience in biopharmaceuticals is a plus.
Research in the area of chronic disease economics is essential. Knowledge in methods of economic evaluation such as of cost-of-illness studies, cost-benefit studies and cost-effectiveness analysis are important. Candidate must have knowledge of public data bases related to chronic disease such as NHIS, MEPS, NHANES, BRFSS and others, plus familiarity of with private data bases. Use of sub-national data is desirable. Familiarity of prevention/early detection strategies and the latest innovations in the treatment of chronic diseases is a plus. Position will work with department head and other senior research staff in conducting sponsored research studies. Statistical estimation including econometrics using statistical software (i.e. SAS, STATA, Eviews, Aremos, SPSS) and be able to maintain, organize, and update large data sets. Other requirements are a detailed knowledge of economic and statistical concepts, experience in generating charts and tables in Excel, PowerPoint, and Access, possess good written and oral communication skills and have an interest in working under pressure in a team environment.
