The Stanley S. Schor Visiting Scholar Program: Merck Research Laboratories
Location: Rahway, New Jersey or West Point, Pennsylvania, USA
Closing date: 30 November 2005
Merck Research Laboratories requests applications for the Stanley S. Schor Visiting Scholar Program. Distinguished biostatisticians, health economists, epidemiologists, and health service researchers are invited to spend a period of 6-12 months (starting in 2006 or early 2007) at Merck. The visiting scholar will collaborate with Merck scientists and willteach a course or conduct a seminar series. It is anticipated that the visiting scholar will be involved closely with at least one project in biopharmaceutical research, e.g., health economics, clinical trials (particularly oncology), pharmaco-epidemiology, drug discovery, genomics, PK/PD modeling, imaging, clinical pharmacology, and safety.
Merck Research Laboratories has facilities both in northern New Jersey (Rahway) and immediately outside Philadelphia, PA (West Point and Blue Bell). There are approximately 300 statisticians epidemiologists and economists throughout the company conducting research in all phases of drug development and surveillance. Merck statisticians traditionally conduct research in statistical or epidemiological methods motivated by questions arising in the drug development process, including publications, participation in conferences, and activities in professional associations.
Candidates for this program should have an outstanding research record in biostatistics, epidemiology or statistics including both publications in methodology and applied research.
Applicants should provide a CV and a letter of interest describing what you would hope to achieve during your visit at Merck.
