Health Outcomes & Pharmacoeconomics Manager

Position Summary: The Health Outcomes & Pharmacoeconomics (HOPE) Manager provides strategic direction in the development and implementation of economic evaluation and outcomes research strategies for selected Company products, both investigational and marketed, that are key to the United States healthcare marketplace. This individual works closely with both global and US functions including R&D/Clinical Development, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Global Health Economics, Regulatory and others to ensure that our key U.S. products have robust pharmacoeconomic information and analyses.

Position Accountabilities

The following are essential job accountabilities:

  1. 60% Develop and execute a cross functional strategic plan to generate, analyze & disseminate relevant pharmacoeconomic and health outcomes information through:
    • Desk research evaluations such as meta-analyses and modeling studies that demonstrate economic benefit and value of Company products
    • Proactively recommend the inclusion and analysis of cost or outcome parameters in late-phase clinical trials in order to ensure the availability of at least minimum of HE evidence.
    • Design, compile, synthesize and interpret evidence for health outcomes and pharmacoeconomic analyses of Company products or in the Company’s areas of therapeutic interest and focus.
  2. 35% Provide expert pharmacoeconomic support and responses to internal and external stakeholders in the form of:
    • Internal consultation and project completion
    • Internal and External Group guidance on HOPE issues and plans
    • Internal and External Presentations
  3. 5% Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Job Specifications

Minimum Education:

  • First university degree (BSc or higher) in a biomedical or economics discipline.
  • Extensive training in health economic methods and techniques, preferably through a postgraduate degree

Minimum Experience/Capabilities

  • Sound understanding of clinical research
  • Understanding of the structure and dynamics of the U.S. pharmaceutical marketplace
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Previous U.S. healthcare industry experience
  • Strong experience in working in cross-functional matrix teams

Preferred Experience/Capabilities

  • Clinical healthcare experience preferred (RN, PA-C, RPh, PharmD, MD, DO)
  • One year pharmaceutical industry experience
  • Experience in direct interaction with health system decision makers that utilize pharmacoeconomic information such as practitioners, P&T committee members, Formulary committees, Managed Care personnel, etc.
