Research Fellow in Pharmacoeconomics: University of Wales, Bangor, Institute of Medical & Social Care Research

R&A Grade II: £29,055 - £38,448 p.a.

A position has arisen to assist in the development of pharmacoeconomic research at the Centre for Economics and Policy in Health, part of the Institute of Medical and Social Care Research.

The successful applicant will become member of the Welsh Medicines Partnership, and be responsible for critically appraising pharmaceutical industry health economic submissions to the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group. Opportunities will also be available to pursue other aspects of pharmacoeconomic research. The appointment is for a period of two years in the first instance, with a view to continuation. The position offers excellent opportunity for career development in an exciting area of health technology.

Applicants are expected to have a PhD, or an MSc in health economics, operational research or a related discipline plus post-qualification experience of conducting health economics evaluations in an academic or commercial environment.

The Institute of Medical and Social Care Research, part of the newly established College of Health & Behavioural Sciences, brings together interdisciplinary research in the fields of health and social care service evaluation, and researchers from the Institute were awarded a grade 5 in the 2001 RAE. The Centre for Economics and Policy in Health conducts a portfolio of research projects, including pharmacoeconomics, economic evaluation alongside clinical trials and health economics of public health interventions.
