Scientific Lead: Med-Emerg Inc.
Location: Mississauga, Ontario
Position Description: As a specialist in health services research, the Scientific Lead will oversee the research methodology in health services consulting proposals and projects. This will involve providing direction to Project Managers and Research Associates on the methodology and report preparation associated with all of the consulting projects conducted by Med-Emerg. The Scientific Lead will be expected to prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and present work at scientific conferences. The Scientific Lead will also be encouraged to secure an academic appointment and supervise graduate students in health services research.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in business development efforts
- Supervise the development of proposals and detailed project work plans
- Provide research methodology expertise in support of a wide variety of consulting projects
- Provide direction to Project Managers and Research Associates in research methodology
- Direct literature reviews and environmental scans
- Collaborate with academic-based researchers and government officials
- Direct the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data
- Direct report preparation
- Prepare and submit abstracts of Med-Emerg’s work and present at healthcare conferences
- Prepare and submit manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals
- Revise and innovate consulting approaches and tools
- Contribute to knowledge management within our consulting practice
- Develop niche areas and core competencies
- Support the development of staff in the consulting division
- Travel within Canada; will include international travel
Qualifications
Skills/Knowledge:
- Strong analytical ability and highly detail-oriented
- Highly organized, efficient, proactive and able to meet deadlines
- Proven written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem solving and planning skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong presentation skills
- Skilled in managing teams, projects and resources
- Must be experienced in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of healthcare issues, trends and policies
Education/Experience:
- PhD or equivalent in Health Sciences or a Health Care Management related discipline
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in health services research
- Published in peer-reviewed journals
