Associate Director, Health Economics Research

Location: Highland Park, Illinois, or San Francisco, California, or Philadelphia area, Pennsylvania, USA

Job Description & Requirements

This individual will help direct the activities of the Health Economics practice of one of the leading outcomes research consulting firms serving the pharmaceutical and medical device industries.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning, designing, and implementing applied health economic research studies, including retrospective database analyses, prospective trials, and decision analytic models.
  • Providing technical oversight and guidance to research and research support staff.
  • Supervising and mentoring research and research support staff.
  • Working strategically with clients to identify relevant projects and developing sound pharmacoeconomic development plans.
  • Conceptualizing and developing proposals and budgets.
  • Developing new business opportunities and fostering client relationships.

The ideal candidate will have superior organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks when appropriate, and to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The candidate must have strong leadership qualities with an interest in helping others to succeed. The position requires strong conceptual, quantitative, writing and verbal skills, including the ability to interact positively with clients and staff at all levels. Computer literacy is required (e.g., spreadsheets, word processing, computer graphics, database management tools, statistical software).

An advanced degree in pharmacoeconomic/health economics research, pharmacy, medicine or allied science, epidemiology, biostatistics, or health services research, and a minimum of five years experience in the pharmaceutical, medical device, or consulting industry is required. Significant technical expertise in decision analytic modeling, retrospective claims analysis, and/or trial-based health economics research. A broad knowledge of health economics research, health policy, and health care consulting.
