The Saïd Business School is one of Europe’s fastest-growing and most prestigious management schools. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses and a highly regarded Masters in Business Administration (MBA), Executive Masters in Business Administration (EMBA), and a new Masters in Financial Economics (MFE) programme. In addition, the School has a new and evolving portfolio of Executive Education programmes and houses several prestigious research centres such as the Clifford Chance Centre for the Management of Professional Service Firms, the James Martin Institute for Science and Civilization, and the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship. Further information on the Saïd Business School is available at http://www.sbs.ox.ac.uk.

We are now seeking to recruit a Research Officer with a background in health economics or economics with a strong bias towards health applications, to work on a project modelling the economic and social impact of vaccines. This is part of a highly multidisciplinary research program analyzing the research, development, production, delivery, and market uptake of vaccines, with a particular interest in developing strategies for the successful launch of future dengue vaccines. The research requires a strong empirical background, and the ability to handle complex and often very diverse sets of data - epidemiological, economic, socio-cultural, and political. Good modelling experience, preferably in a related area of health economics, is advantageous. This should include the ability and willingness to integrate — whether or not already part of the successful candidate’s qualifications — models and lessons from global public health.

This project, with funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, is also intended to be highly innovative, and will involve the development of new methodologies and frameworks for analysis and policy formulation. The project therefore provides the opportunity to do rigorous academic research with the potential for genuine impact on practical policy. The post is for 18 months in the first instance with a strong possibility of extension, subject to sponsor approval. A start date of sometime between June and August 2007 or very soon after is envisaged. Applicants should have evidence of their eligibility to work in the UK.

Further details of the post are available from Tracy Roketta, email recruit@sbs.ox.ac.uk or telephone 01865 288815. A covering letter indicating how you fulfil the requirements of the post together with a detailed curriculum vitae and the names and complete contact details (including email addresses if possible) of two referees, should be sent to
