DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY HEALTH SCIENCES

The Department of Community Health Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor. Candidates should have an interest in urban and immigrant health issues. We are interested in recruiting faculty with expertise in the design and evaluation of health promotion programs, strong qualitative and/or quantitative skills, a commitment to addressing health disparities in urban and immigrant populations, and a research portfolio within public health or a closely related discipline.

DEPARTMENT OF EPIDEMIOLOGY AND BIOSTATISTICS

The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics invites applications for tenure track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant and Associate Professor.

Biostatistics: Basic requirements include a doctoral level degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or related field, teaching experience, strong record of, or high potential for, independent, methodological research and scientific collaboration. Applicants with research interests in the area of statistical methodology for observational studies, clinical trials, categorical data, miss-ing data, statistical genetics, and experience in collaborating on multi-center studies are especially urged to apply. The faculty member will be expected to provide statistical expertise and leadership in the design, monitoring, and analysis of epidemiological and genetic studies, some of which have a multi-center nature, as well as collaborating on studies using existing registry data.

Epidemiology: Basic requirements include a doctoral degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health or related discipline, post-doctoral training, teaching experience, strong record of, or high potential for, independent methodological research and scientific collaboration. We seek candidates with research experience and peer reviewed publications in epidemiology, population science, and biomarkers applied to human studies. Preference will be given to candidates with federal funding, and a track record of independent research in the epidemiology of health disparities, disease etiology, gene-environmental interaction and disease occurrence and outcome. The successful candidate will conduct research, obtain extramural support, collaborate with others in the Medical Center, teach and mentor Master’s, Doctoral students and Fellows; publish in peer reviewed journals, and participate in department and medical center activities.

To be the key lead on all phases of project delivery, including business development, proposal writing, undertaking qualitative interviews, analysis and presenting final results.

The EHESP School of Public Health, which gathers several research centres & departments associated to the Institute of Management, is seeking for an enthusiastic candidate in economics to join a friendly and multi-disciplinary team. Overview: The Indiana University School of Public and Environment Affairs (SPEA), Indianapolis campus, has an opening for a Trustee Lecturer position. This position will teach in the Health Program area but may also teach in the area of Public Affairs. SPEA is a multi-disciplinary division of Indiana University, established as a professional school committed to excellence in teaching, research, and civic engagement that addresses critical issues of public affairs and policy. The Dean is responsible to the Provost and Vice-President (Academic) for the supervision and administration of all activities of the Faculty, including the budget. The Dean will provide strong and innovative leadership within the Faculty, promote collaboration with other Faculties, and continue building strong partnerships with external constituencies, federal and provincial agencies and organizations, and other universities.

Candidates must possess wide-ranging expertise and skills, including: proven leadership and administrative abilities; an earned doctorate with a strong record of contributions in their field; proven commitment to excellence in teaching and research; and experience in external relations. Candidates must also be committed to working closely with national and provincial professional pharmacy organizations.

Post-Doctoral Fellowships in Population Economics: Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies

Qualified applicants are sought for two year post-doctoral fellowships in Population Economics. The successful post-doctoral fellows will continue his/her training through a two-year fellowship at the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies. The post-doctoral fellows will be members of the Department of Global Health and Population. They will work directly on projects with faculty members and will also be expected to develop their own research in population economics.

Examples of current projects are:

  • The effect of fertility on economic development
  • Social networks and fertility
  • The effect of social security on savings and retirement behavior
  • Expected longevity and life cycle behavior
  • Health and labor productivity
  • The demographic and economic consequences of HIV/AIDS
  • Health and aging in India

Fellows usually undertake some field work in developing countries. Fellows may be permitted to undertake a small amount of teaching.

Eligibility: Applicants should have a recent Ph.D. in economics (or expect to receive a Ph.D. by September 2009), and have a strong background in a relevant field (e.g. population economics, labor economics, public economics, health economics or development economics) together with expertise in applied econometrics. Experience of field work is desirable. Fellows will be selected on the basis of their academic achievement and promise, regardless of nationality. Qualified women and minority candidates are particularly encouraged to apply.?

Salary: $46,000. In addition to the annual salary, Fellows will have access to a full range of university resources including benefits.?

Background sought:
