Assistant / Associate Professor (Pharmacoepidemiology / Pharmacoeconomics / Outcomes Research): Wayne State University, Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

Wayne State University announces the availability of a tenure-track position within the Department of Pharmacy Practice. The department has 26 full-time faculty members and in conjunction with the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is responsible for the education and training of 100 Doctor of Pharmacy students annually. The pharmacy program is based in the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, a 270,000 square foot, state-of-the-art education and research facility that opened in 2002 and located in the heart of the medical campus of Wayne State University.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of a program of scholarship related to pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacoeconomics or outcomes research. It is expected that the individual filling this position will also provide didactic teaching in the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum as well as support for a pharmacy track in the Masters in Public Health program at Wayne State University.

Applicants with a Pharm.D. combined with MPH, MBA or postdoctoral fellowship training or a Ph.D in epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology or pharmacoeconomics are encouraged to apply.

Teaching Responsibilities:

  1. Classroom teaching in areas of expertise in the Doctor of Pharmacy program.
  2. Development and teaching of graduate courses to support a pharmacy track in the Masters in Public Health program at Wayne State University.

Service Activities:

  1. Administrative support for the development of a pharmacy track in the Masters in Public Health program at Wayne State University.
  2. Appointment to department, college and university Committees, as appropriate.
  3. Service to local, state and national professional and scientific organizations.

Scholarship Responsibilities:

  1. It is expected that the successful candidate will develop a program of scholarship related to pharmacoepidemiology and/or pharmacoeconomics. Publication of research in peer-reviewed publications and success in acquiring extramural funding to support research activities is required. Scholarly requirements related to promotion are outlined in the document Factors for the Appointment and Promotion of Faculty.

Evaluation: Procedures for performance evaluation are outlined in the Agreement between Wayne State University and the Wayne State University Chapter of the American Association of University Professors-American Federation of Teachers. Salary is adjusted in accord with this agreement. Merit adjustments are based upon the recommendations of the Department of Pharmacy Practice Salary Review Committee to the Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Progress towards promotion and/or tenure is reviewed annually by the Promotion and Tenure Committee of the Department of Pharmacy Practice.
