Sparkman Center for International Public Health Education (SCIPHE). The Sparkman Center, created in 1980, contributes to the improvement of health world-wide. Through its programs, the Center seeks to alleviate major health problems which afflicit the poorest nations of the world by making available within a limited number of such countries comprehensive, graduate-level training in public health. The SCIPHE is supported by an endowment of nearly $400,000. UAB is a comprehensive public, urban Carnegie Research I University.
