The Institute for Health Services Research at the University of Minnesota is pleased to be the site of the Eighth Annual Health Economics Conference on June 27-29, 1997. As in previous years, the Management Science Group at the Department of Veterans Affairs will co-sponsor the event. The purpose of this invitational Conference is to facilitate discussion among a relatively small group of health economists on a variety of topics. The choice of papers will be based on originality, interest, and timeliness. As is traditional, the sponsors of the conference will pay for meals and accommodations for the presenters and discussants, but all other expenses, including travel, are the participant's responsibility. The individual should have a PhD (or MD/PhD) in decision science, with rigorous quantitative training in statistics and outcomes and program evaluation. S/he will be expected to conduct independent research as well as work collaboratively with physicians, health economists and other scientist in a health policy team.
