Approaches to service management and delivery based on contracting have become an important trend in health systems management. CHEPA's 10th Anniversary Conference will explore a wide-ranging set of issues involved in using contracting approaches in the health care system, incorporating perspectives from public management, economics, sociology, law, ethics, and as well as the experience of different jurisdictions using performance based contracts. The Conference offers an excellent opportunity for policy makers, business and labour, health care professionals, researchers and others to come together for a collegial exchange of ideas and perspectives on the issues and evidence regarding contracting. The Conference will feature plenary and concurrent sessions as well as poster displays, with invited speakers and selected abstracts. In addition, there will be ample opportunity for informal interaction among delegates and presenters. Individuals are invited to submit abstracts and posters presentations on the theme of Contracting in Health Care. Presentations based on actual experience in policy implementation are welcome. A description of supporting data and methodology used; 3. An outline of the analysis of the data; and, 4. A report of the findings or conclusions, with their implications for health policy. Abstracts of CASE STUDIES, reporting on actual experiences with contracting in health and health care, are required to include the following headings: 1. A statement of the policy issue; 2. A discussion of the context and setting involving contracting; 3. An analytical description of the experience with contracting; 4. The implications of the findings or outcomes on future policies. Abstracts of DISCURSIVE OR CONCEPTUAL PAPERS are required to include the following headings: 1. A statement of the subject or premise of the paper; 2. A step-by-step outline of the author's reasoning; and, 3. A report of the conclusions, with their implications for health policy.
