Since september 2003, iBMG (Institute for Health Policy and managment) offers a Master of Science programme in Health Economics, Policy and Law. MSc HEPL is multidisciplinary and specially designed for students interested in understanding the complexities of health care systems from different perspectives. MSc HEPL offers students the opportunity to complement their curriculum with the specific skills derived from the interdisciplinary approach to health and health care. Successful students will be able to identify the policy and economics implications of legal rules and decisions, to advance arguments using both legal, economics and political reasoning, as well as to grasp the differences between national health care systems. These skills will represent an exceptional asset to find professional openings at international firms, consultancy groups, international organisations like the UNO, WTO, EU, or to pursue an academic career.

This Master Course of Health Information Management will enable you to deal with the challenges and demands of professional information management and organizational development in health care. It is block release, delivered in the Netherlands, Sweden and UK by Erasmus University Rotterdam in collaboration with Carelink in Sweden and CHIRAD in the UK. The course is based on the understanding that health information management is not just a matter of solving technological problems, but rather addressing complex social and organizational issues. The leading principle underlying the contents is the sociotechnical approach which reflects insights and integrates solutions from both the social and technical realm.

This programme is intended for students, who want to receive a PhD-degree at the Erasmus University (department for Health Policy and Management). Following the European tradition the PhD-degree is granted on the basis of a clearly defined body of scholarly work as demonstrated by scientific publications. This is appropriate for advanced professionals, who are about to work in an independent way, drawing on the advice and consultation of the institute's faculty. As there is no obligation to follow courses in Rotterdam the programme is especially suited for those holding a (fulltime or part-time) position in research or health care, and at the same time wanting to acquire a PhD degree. A professor of the staff of the department will be appointed as supervisor (promoter) of the candidate's work and dissertation.
