Econometric Analysis of Healthcare Demand

Presentation: This laboratory course is intended for PhD students and other junior researchers interested in the quantitative analysis of health care demand. Apart from providing an overview of the economic specificities of health care demand, the course will address econometric methods used for modeling different types of data on health care consumption, and provide examples drawn from real data for Switzerland or other countries.
Objectives: The aims of the course are:
- To provide an overview of the economic aspects of health care demand
- To present the econometric and statistical tools for the different types of data on health care consumption
- To apply these methods to real datasets through computation-based exercises
The course is part of the a series of seven modules offered as the International PhD Courses in Health Economics and Policy intended for PhD students who are wishing to enhance their specific knowledge and sharpen their capabilities in the field of health economics and policy.
