Call for Abstracts: 31st Nordic Health Economist's meeting (NHESG)

Location: Umea, Sweden
Dates: 18-20 August 2010
Abstract Submission Deadline: 16 April 2010

We are pleased to invite you to the 31st Nordic Health Economist’s meeting (NHESG)!

This year’s meeting will take place between the 18th and 20th of August at Umea University, Sweden.

The 2010 NHESG meeting is hosted by the Department of Economics and Epidemiology and Global Health at the Department of Public Health and Clinical Medicine, in collaboration with the Graduate School in Population Dynamics and Public Policy at Umea University.

To serve as an inspiration to participating researchers, but not a restriction, the 31st NHESG meeting has been given the theme “Prevention”.

We are pleased to announce that Professor Donald Kenkel from Cornell University will give a keynote lecture on this theme.

Papers on all topics within health economics are welcome. The submitted papers can be reports on completed studies, work in progress or short descriptions of planned studies. The conference language is English.

If you are interested in presenting a paper at the meeting, please submit a title and an abstract (up to 250 words) of the proposed content, with some indication as to the nature of the piece and techniques expected to be used (e.g., econometrics, theoretical modeling, economic evaluation, etc.).

The deadline for abstracts is April 16th.

Please submit your abstract by email if possible, as text in the body of the email message (not as attachment). It is also possible to submit an abstract by fax. Abstracts will be available on the conference website to allow for a more informed choice for those interested in discussing. You can also participate without presenting a paper.

The deadline for full papers will be June 23rd.

Please note: The deadline will be strictly enforced - papers not submitted in time will be considered withdrawn from the conference. To make the full use of the electronic media, we will make it possible for all the participants to download submitted papers from the conference website. However, access to papers will be restricted to participants at the meeting (a password will be distributed).

You can also participate without presenting a paper. A preliminary conference program will be found on the website from May 17th.

If the numbers of papers submitted exceeds the number of slots, the following selection criteria will apply:

  1. Work-in-progress papers and those at an early stage are particularly welcome.

  2. Authors, or set of authors (but not institutions or units) may be restricted to one paper.

  3. Papers may be selected on a first come first served basis.

This year, the conference registration fee is set at a lower rate for PhD students to especially encourage their participation. The conference registration fee is:

2800 SEK (excl VAT) for PhD students if paid before the 11th of June

3300 SEK (excl VAT) for senior researchers if paid before the 11th of June

4000 SEK (excl VAT) for all participants if paid after the 11th of June

Kindly pass the information about the meeting on to any colleagues who might be interested. We apologize for double postings.

All information about the conference can be found at the website: http://www.econ.umu.se/english/nhesg2010/
