General Description
The Canadian Health Economics Study Group meets annually. Participants are usually faculty members and graduate students affiliated to Canadian universities and individuals working in the government sector (Health Canada, provincial ministries of Health) or research institutes. Researchers affiliated to universities outside of Canada also regularly attend the meeting. Graduate students are strongly encouraged to submit their research (registration fees are waived). In the past graduate students often presented their own research or formally discussed another researcher’s work.
Topics covering both theoretical and empirical economics are discussed. Each paper will be allotted 45 minutes of which twenty five are given to the author to present, ten minutes are given to a discussant to comment on the paper and ten minutes are used for discussion from the floor. All conference participants are expected to attend all sessions and to have read the research papers prior to the meeting. The conference will consist of a full day of presentations on May 26th and a half day of presentations on May 27th. There are no parallel sessions. A total of ten papers will be selected for presentation using a double-blinded process. Papers will be selected on the basis of academic quality alone; there is no theme for the conference.
Keynote speakers are Jonathan Skinner of Dartmouth University, USA and Luigi Siciliani of The University of York, UK.
