Call For Abstracts: Society for Medical Decision Making 13th European Meeting 2010, Public Health Decision Making

We are very pleased to announce the 13th Biennial European Meeting of the Society for Medical Decision Making (SMDM), which will take place from May 30 to June 2, 2010, in the city of Hall/Tyrol in Austria. The conference venue will be UMIT - University for Health Sciences in a modern building located close to the beautiful medieval town center, surrounded by the wonderful mountains of Tyrol. Hall is easily accessible by train or airplane from all over Europe, the airport Innsbruck is 20 minutes away, the Munich airport 2 hours (shuttles from Munich to Hall are available).
The conference will begin as usual with short courses on Sunday, May 30, followed by a reception on Sunday night. The conference will include plenary sessions, oral presentations, posters, workshops, panel discussions, and Special Symposia on ‘Public Health Decision Making’ and ‘Personalized Decision Making’.
We also plan an exciting social event on Tuesday night.

We would like to invite you to submit abstracts for the 13th SMDM European Meeting 2010 at UMIT, Hall/Innsbruck, Austria
Abstracts will be reviewed for acceptance on their scientific merit and should be clearly written.
There are 4 abstract categories:
A. Oral Presentations (10 min + 5 min discussion)
B. Poster Presentations
C. Panel Discussions (30 min presentations + 30 min discussion)
D. Workshops (45 min presentations + 15 min discussion)
Research abstracts should report original work that has not been published prior to the European SMDM Meeting. Abstracts may reflect work previously presented elsewhere, but should not have previously been presented at a European SMDM Meeting.
Panel Discussions should focus on a “hot” or controversial topic in medical decision making. A Panel consists of a moderator and 2 or more panelists. The panelists should provide different aspects, perspectives or opinions on the topic discussed and should be from different institutions or work settings (decision maker, academia, industry, provider etc.).
Workshops are intended to share new and innovative methods and experiences in the field of medical decision making. The workshops should be interactive.
Kindly specify your preferred category. The authors will be informed in due time whether their abstract has been accepted and which category it was assigned to. We ask you to understand that the number of slots for oral presentations is limited. Therefore, some presenters may be asked to adapt their oral presentations to posters. Inclusion of abstracts in the scientific program is dependent on payment of registration fees. All accepted abstracts will be published in a volume of the Journal Medical Decision Making.
All abstracts must be submitted in English and sent as an email attachment to: esmdm@umit.at
Instructions for the Preparation of Abstracts:
- Abstracts should be submitted as Word file.
- Font: Times New Roman, size 11 points, single spacing.
- Title should be typed in CAPITAL LETTERS, bold and left aligned
- In research abstracts, the presenting author’s name should be underlined.
- Abstracts for panel discussions should include the name of the moderator and speakers and a short description of the topic.
- Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words for poster and oral presentations, no longer than 350 words for workshops and panel discussions
- No end-notes, diagrams or frames are acceptable
- If submitting more than one abstract, each abstract must be sent as a separate e-mail message and the title should indicate these are separate abstracts, i.e., FrankBlackAbstract_1.doc
- Please note: faxed abstracts will not be accepted
All abstracts will be reviewed by an Abstract Review Committee assembled and managed by the Scientific Program Committee.
