Call for Papers: Health. Happiness. Inequality: Modelling the Pathways between Income Inequality and Health

The purpose of this conference is to analyse the relationship between income inequalities and health. It is widely accepted that interpersonal comparisons and relative deprivation are closely related to an individual’s life satisfaction. However, economists have been reluctant to accept claims brought forward in other disciplines that economic inequalities as such have a direct impact on individual health. The conference aims at bringing these two perspectives together and shed some light on how economic modelling can contribute to our understanding of the interplay between income inequalities, life satisfaction, and health.
Papers on relevant topics in Microsoft Word or pdf format should be sent before January 31, 2010 to the following address:

Submitted papers should include the following information:
- Title of the paper
- Name(s) of author(s) and institutional affiliation
- Mailing address and e-mail of the presenter
- Key words related with the subject of the paper
Submitted papers will be assessed and selected by the scientific committee of the conference. Acceptance of papers will be mailed to authors by March 1, 2010. There is no registration fee for the conference. Selected participants will be provided free lodging in the city of Darmstadt.
