With the support of 41 participating organizations, the Society of Actuaries’ Committee on Living to 100 Research Symposia is organizing its third, triennial international symposium on high-age mortality and related issues taking place Jan. 7-9, 2008, in Orlando, Florida.
Actuaries, demographers, gerontologists and other professionals from around the world will be among those presenting papers on such thought-provoking subjects as:
- Mortality trends and projection methods;
- Theories on aging;
- Enhanced mortality rate and population projections; and
- Implications of an aging population for social, financial, health care and retirement systems.
The 2008 symposium features concurrent sessions and panel discussions to accommodate the many new topics added to the program. Well-known scientist, Dr. Cynthia Kenyon, American Cancer Society professor and director of the Hillblom Center for the Biology of Aging at the University of California, San Francisco, is planned to provide an exciting and informative keynote address.
