HTAi 2006 - 3rd Annual Meeting Health Technology Assessment International

The 2006 Annual Meeting is now less than one year away. The outline of the scientific program is in place, with a world-renowned list of plenary speakers, and sessions currently being planned to suit all fields of interest within health technology assessment.
Program outline: The Program will include plenary, parallel panel, oral and poster presentations. Other events will include the first formal meeting of HTAi with the Asia Pacific Health Technology Association, and pre-conference workshops on topics including HTA methodologies and HTA relationships with industry. Exciting events showcasing a cross-section of Australian gastronomy, culture and fauna are also planned for the welcome reception, opening ceremony and gala dinner.
Call for Papers: The call for papers is available on the website. Please note abstracts submission closes on the 13th February 2006.
Online abstract submission is the only method. Abstract requirements and instructions for their submission can be viewed online. If you experience technical difficulties with online submission please email your query to tstafinski@ihe.ca.
Monday 3 July, Opening Ceremony
Keynote Speaker: Professor Peter Doherty AC FAA FRS, Laureate Professor
Professor Doherty shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1996 with Swiss colleague Rolf Zinkernagel, for their discovery of how the immune system recognises virus infected cells.
Plenary sessions: These sessions will be high-profile, interactive discussions of topical issues in HTA. Two chairs will oversee the presentations of two or three key international speakers and the subsequent forum discussion.

Health Technology Regulatory Systems
This session will focus on regulatory systems for devices and pharmaceuticals.

The ‘theatre’ of HTA
Leading surgeons will highlight, through practical demonstrations, advances in surgical health technologies, their assessment and their role in health care services.

HTA – The New Frontiers
Speakers with diverse backgrounds will examine the applicability of HTA to developing countries.

Parallel panel sessions: These sessions will feature three to five presentations on selected topics, followed by an interactive discussion accessible to the audience. For more details see Plenary sessions listed in the Scientific Program
Oral and poster sessions: Oral sessions will encompass five or six oral presentations (10 minutes plus 5 minutes of discussion) on the similar topics. Oral presentations and posters will be selected from the abstracts submitted online.
