Call for Papers: Special Issue "economics of innovation and technology in health care" in the journal : Economics of Innovation and New Technology
Deadline: 30 November 2007
Address for submission:
- Joan Costa-Font, LSE, J.costa-font@lse.ac.uk
- Christophe Courbage, christophecourbage@genevaassociation.org
- Andrea Mina, University of Manchester, a.mina@cbr.cam.ac.uk
Special Issue information: “Innovation and new technologies are key aspects of well-being and play an especially important role in health care. On the one hand, they are bringing about continuous improvements in the diagnosis, treatment and cure of diseases; on the other, they are capturing increasing shares of GDP in many countries and have been found to be primary driver of healthcare expenditures.??Understanding processes of change in the health care sector deserves more attention than it currently receives in the literature on the economics of innovation. We encourage submission on any area of the innovation process of health care along with papers examining the study of the barriers technology adoption, approaches to technology diffusion and especially production and consumption processes that are specific form the health care sector and that can be informative to the study of innovation in general.
Information on the journal:

The journal welcomes contributions across a wide range of issues concerned with innovation, including: innovation in product markets, process innovation, patenting, diffusion, innovation and technology policy, international competitiveness, standardization and network externalities, innovation and growth, technology transfer, innovation and market structure, innovation and the environment, and across a broad range of economic activity not just in ‘high technology’ areas. The journal also welcomes papers on research methods and data sources which contribute to the advancement of theoretical and empirical analysis.
