its Fifth Global Research Project:</p>

<p>&#8220;Promoting Innovative Programs from the Developing World: Towards Realizing the Health MDGs in Africa and Asia&#8221;</p>

<p>This 3 year USD 5.9 million project involves conducting extensive international standard impact evaluations and cost-effectiveness analyses of both about-to-be-launched and ongoing health and health-related programs from the developing and transition world.</p>

<p>Submissions are invited from researchers, NGOs, private sector organizations or governments, from and/or operating in developing and transition countries.</p>

<p><strong>Who can apply?</strong></p>

<p>Researchers can apply as independent evaluators of programs; managers of NGO programs, private sector managed development programs and government programs can submit applications for high-quality evaluations of projects they implement in health and related fields.</p>

<p><strong>Why apply?</strong></p>

<p>Researchers who apply will receive funds for conducting an international  standard impact evaluation research project and will benefit from high-quality mentoring and interaction with international experts, networking with researchers from around the world, and development of program evaluation skills and expertise in best-practice impact evaluation techniques.</p>

<p>Program managers who apply will benefit through marketable and publishable international standard evaluations with credible results that can be confidently presented to donors.  GDN will also promote the most promising programs with international donors and policymakers to facilitate fund raising.</p>

<p>The Canadian High Commission and the Foundation for Canadian Studies in the UK are pleased to announce the 2006-08 competition under the Sustained Studies in Contemporary Canadian Issues Programme.</p>

<p>The competition is open to scholars at UK universities and other degree-granting institutions. Applications will be accepted from teams of at least three scholars either from within the same UK institution or from different institutions.</p>

<p>The four broad research themes for which applications are invited are:</p>

<ol>
<li>Healthcare Reform in Canada and the UK</li>
<li>Managing Social Diversity in Canada and the UK</li>
<li>Electoral Reform in Canada and the UK</li>
<li>Energy Security in Canada and the UK</li>

<p><strong>Session Proposals</strong></p>

<p>Submission of session proposals will include uploading a detailed written proposal. Please see our session examples for guidance in developing your session proposal. Submitted organized session proposals are peer-reviewed by three separate reviewers as a complete package. Prior professional activities of session participants are criteria for acceptance and thus this review is <strong>not blinded</strong>. Individual abstracts from proposals not accepted in the organized session intake will be entered in a rep&ecirc;chage peer-review that is blinded.</p>

<p><strong>Session Proposals</strong></p>

<p>Submission of session proposals will include uploading a detailed written proposal. Please see our session examples for guidance in developing your session proposal. Submitted organized session proposals are peer-reviewed by three separate reviewers as a complete package. Prior professional activities of session participants are criteria for acceptance and thus this review is <strong>not blinded</strong>. Individual abstracts from proposals not accepted in the organized session intake will be entered in a rep&ecirc;chage peer-review that is blinded.</p>

Individual abstracts and session proposals will not be considered after the closing date without permission from iHEA.</p>

<p>The University of Athens (School of Law, Economics and Political Science) in collaboration with the Health Research Unit of the Athens Institute for Education and Research (ATINER) organize their 6th International Conference in Athens, Greece, June 7-8, 2007. <p>The registration fee will be O300 (euro), covering access to all sessions, 2 lunches, coffee breaks and conference material. Special arrangements will be made with local hotels for a limited number of rooms at a special conference rate. In addition, a Greek Night with live music and a one-day cruise to picturesque Greek Islands will be organized.</p>

<p>The aim of the conference is to bring together scholars, researchers and students from all areas of health economics, management and policy. Special Sessions will be devoted to Equity and Poverty in Health, Pharmaceutical Economics, Quality of Life, Economic Evaluation, Health Care Reforms, Social Security, School Health Programs, and Health Related Business.</p>

<p>Selected (reviewed) papers will be published in a Special Volume of the Conference Proceedings.</p>

<p>Nobel Laureate Edward Prescott will present a keynote address. Papers will be chosen for their originality and timeliness. All conference lunches and dinners for presenters and discussants will be covered by SHMP. Other expenses, including transportation, are the participant&#8217;s responsibility.</p>
