CONFERENCE SYNOPSIS:
The Annual Health Economics Conference is a small invitational conference designed to facilitate the exposure to and discussion of cutting edge research in health economics. This year, the Center for Health and the Social Sciences at The University of Chicago is pleased to host the 19th Annual Health Economics Conference, March 20-21, 2008.
We invite both theoretical and empirical papers on health economics topics, and encourage the participation of economists in all fields whose current research focuses on health care issues. We will aim for a mix of scholars—both young and experienced scholars, established and new to the field. Papers will be chosen primarily for their originality, innovativeness, and rigor. We would like to devote a part of the conference to topics in pharmaceutical economics, including Medicare Part D, so submissions in those areas are especially encouraged.
Interested researchers should submit an abstract (maximum of two pages) by January 24, 2008, in an electronic format (PDF preferred) to CHeSS@bsd.uchicago.edu (please include “Annual Health Economics Conference 2008 ” in subject line). Submitted papers should be unpublished and not under review at a peer reviewed journal.
Those invited to participate in the conference will be notified by February 11, 2008. Completed papers must be received by the conference organizers by March 6, 2008.
A small number of papers (~12) will be selected for the conference and a significant amount of time will be devoted to each paper in order to facilitate in-depth discussion.
